Amsterdam: Keukenhof Gardens

Back in March, Hayley and I took a five day trip to Amsterdam. I absolutely loved the Netherlands; the people were friendly, the city was beautiful, and there was so much to do!

We left on Monday the twenty-sixth and, after an early morning flight, Hayley and I headed straight from the airport to Keukenhof Gardens. Keukenhof is the world's largest garden, and we arrived at the perfect time; the tulips were in bloom and we just beat the April tourist rush. Our visit included windmills, farm animals, ice cream, silly giant clogs, and loads of flowers! In addition to the outdoor displays, there was a huge greenhouse absolutely full of tulips of every color and variety, as well as an orchid house.

We stayed at the gardens from for almost six hours! Late in the afternoon we took a bus back to the airport, where we caught the train to Amsterdam and a tram to our hostel, "Hostel Amigo" (trains, planes, and... trams?). The hostel was a little bit of a walk from the center of the city, but it was nice.

Stay tuned for the rest of our trip! Oh, and I promise the next four days of Amsterdam will involve very, very few flowers.
