Recipe: Frozen Strawberry Banana Smoothie

Photobucket
Continuing my unhealthy obsession with smoothies, here's a simple recipe for a frozen strawberry banana smoothie! Somehow, it never occurred to me to put my bananas in the freezer before putting them into the blender. Freezing ripe bananas gives them the consistency (and richness) of ice cream, giving you a sinfully rich smoothie without any of the guilt! This is also the perfect post-workout drink: it's jam packed with vitamin C, potassium, and protein.

You'll need:
1/2 cup orange juice
1.5 bananas, cut up and frozen (I freeze them overnight)
1/2 cup frozen strawberries
1/2 cup non-fat Greek yogurt
Juice from half of a large lemon

Serves one (very generously!).

*If your blender isn't too strong I recommend thawing the bananas for a few minutes first. Also, if your blender is having trouble blending because this smoothie is so thick, feel free to add a little bit of water to help it along.

Combine all ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth. Serve immediately.
