London: Buckingham and Westminster 2

Sunday afternoon, after seeing the Palace of Westminster and Buckingham Palace (see the first post from the day here), we nabbed lunch at a grocery store; I had fruit and a delicious macaroon! Then our group split up to explore different parts of London!

Sheneka, Hayley, and I walked along Westminster Bridge and then headed down Victoria Embankment, and the Embankment was absolutely lovely; there were hardly any crowds, and we had a wonderful view of the London Eye! We also got to see Cleopatra’s Needle and the Battle of Britain Monument.

On our journey we walked along the Golden Jubilee Bridges, checked out the Somerset House, and visited the Southbank Centre to warm up (we saw adorable old couples waltzing to live music at the center). I can't wait to go to music events there! They have some wonderful programs coming up.

After the Southbank Center, we crossed over Waterloo Bridge around sunset; the bridge is absolutely stunning, and the view of London from it is beautiful! Isn't that couple adorable? Not gonna lie: I totally creeped on them! I'm loving trying out street photography in London!

On the way back to our dorm we headed along Charring Cross Road and got to see Trafalgar Square (where a lot of artists, peddlers, and demonstrators had gathered) and the National PortraitGallery. We also stumbled upon the London premiere of the movie War Horse; the crowd waiting to see the actors was massive!

I can’t wait to go back to all the sites we saw and explore them more in depth. Hopefully the good weather holds up! Classes started on Monday, so I’ve been pretty busy trying to get my schedule figured out. Yikes!
